A popular theme among Play-to-Earn Web 3 games, Life Beyond is a game set in the world of space exploration. It is an MMO ( massively multiplayer ) game evolving in a persistent and futuristic universe. Players can create new societies, build their own cities on planets like Mars.

Life Beyond Gameplay

Life Beyond begins after humans discover the remains of a long-forgotten alien on Mars and accidentally trigger a portal leading to untold territories in our universe. After discovering a habitable planet in another solar system, humans land and send signals to Earth for the rest to come while they set up the necessary colony equipment. The task is far from easy, since the planet is already home to creatures less welcoming than we thought. The world of Dolos is our new home and you, alongside everyone else, have a duty to eliminate all imminent dangers to our colonization and survival on this new planet. Once your character appears in Dolos, you are greeted with a customizable apartment in the base. This serves as your home and where you keep all your equipment, weapons, and other resources necessary for your survival. From there, you're tasked with clearing the areas around your base to allow for safer exploration and expansion.

Crafting, building, supplying, and shipping will be essential as players organize and establish economic systems. Expeditions, much like quests, are where players group together to complete certain actions to obtain valuable resources and ancient artifacts. Each expedition mixes both aspects: taking down all types of aliens and solving complex puzzles to open doors and remove obstacles. As you progress through each region, and just before you completely liberate it, as Life Beyond says, you'll encounter what is essentially a boss fight. What makes Life Beyond particularly unique is their success in giving each region a different story arc to give players a sense of accomplishment once all is said and done. Progression in Life Beyond is not tied to the player's avatar. Players can change roles freely. Their goods, equipment, and weapons remain largely their own, but certain events may cause players to lose items or require repairs to them. Crafted weapons and equipment have the potential to become NFTs. Existing items can also be modified, giving them NFT value as well. As the game progresses, new weapons and items can be crafted, using new resources unlocked in each region.

These items are incredibly valuable because they dictate your character's expertise. Expertise is a lot like roles or professions. However, you cannot directly assign yourself a job; you must have the appropriate equipment to do so. Available professions include Archaeologist, Musician, Mining Engineer, Transporter, among others. There are countless game mechanics that we haven't talked about yet, including establishing the political structure of your colony and successfully developing healthy economic activity. We'll see more of Life Beyond and its core gameplay features over the coming months.
